URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) — The Urbana School District will conduct a reunification drill Tuesday, April 7, at the Urbana Sixth Grade Center.

The drill is scheduled to begin around 12:30 p.m. and is part of the district’s efforts to practice emergency response procedures. Officials emphasized that the exercise is only a drill, and students and families have been notified in advance.

As part of the simulation, families will receive information about a mock scenario and be directed to follow reunification steps, which are used to safely reconnect students with their caregivers following an emergency.

School officials say the goal is to ensure students, staff and law enforcement are prepared in the event of a real situation.
