CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Motorists in Champaign should prepare for two separate road closures beginning Thursday due to construction work.

Fifth Street between Springfield Avenue and Healey Street will close Thursday, February 12, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. to allow for material delivery at 502 S. Fifth Street. During that time, through traffic will not be permitted, though access to local properties will be maintained.

Also beginning Thursday, the westbound lane of Broadmoor Drive between Mattis Avenue and Lakeside Drive will close for pavement patching. The closure is scheduled to last through Monday, February 16. Eastbound traffic on Broadmoor Drive will remain open during the construction period.

City officials say access to local properties will be maintained in both areas, but westbound through traffic will not be allowed on Broadmoor Drive while work is underway.

Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes and use caution in construction zones.
