CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Spoiler alert! The Champaign Fire Department has revealed some details about The ILLIAC’s upcoming performance at Hessel Park this Saturday.

The ILLIAC is one of Champaign-Urbana’s most unique and beloved summer events, and is a free, family-friendly music festival. It takes place on Saturday, August 23 from 3 to 9 p.m.

The roster for this year’s events includes The Marching Illini, Bandoneon Massacre, The Soul Syndicate, and Sinfonia da Camera.

On Thursday, the Champaign Fire Department issued a pyrotechnic permit for the performance, revealing that a pyrotechnic display, such as a cannon, flame effect or fireworks, will be present on Saturday. There will be a rehearsal concussion at approximately 10:30 a.m. with performance concussions taking place between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. as part of the event.

Those around Hessel Park, 1400 Grandview Drive, will likely hear the cannon concussions in the adjacent neighborhoods.
