URBANA, Ill (Chambana Today) — A 24-year-old man is in serious condition following a shooting Monday afternoon in Urbana, according to police.

At approximately 12:35 p.m. on September 8, Urbana Police officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1300 block of Dublin Street. Upon arrival, officers found the victim inside a residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators believe the man was shot outside and ran into a nearby home for help. No one else inside the residence was injured.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in serious condition, authorities said.

Multiple law enforcement agencies—including the University of Illinois Police, the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, and the Illinois State Police—assisted Urbana Police in securing the area and beginning the initial investigation.

Preliminary evidence, including video surveillance footage, shows two unidentified males fleeing the scene on foot. The suspects were last seen running south on Romine Street immediately after the shooting.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Urbana Police or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
