Research Park celebrates 25 years of innovation and growth

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The University of Illinois Research Park will commemorate its 25th anniversary with a special celebration on Wednesday, October 8, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at 1901 S. First Street in Champaign.

The event will include a look back at the Park’s legacy, tributes to public and private sector leaders who helped shape its growth, and a preview of what’s to come. Remarks begin at 3:50 p.m., followed by the unveiling of a commemorative sculpture at 4:30 p.m. Free parking is available.

Founded in 2000 by the University of Illinois Board of Trustees, Research Park was built to accelerate research commercialization, support startups, and attract corporate innovation centers. Over the past 25 years, it has grown into a nationally recognized hub, transforming former agricultural land into a thriving tech district.

Under the direction of the University of Illinois Research Park LLC Board of Managers, the site has become a magnet for private investment, job creation, and STEM talent development in Champaign-Urbana.
