Champaign-Urbana, IL – September 2, 2025 – According to their website McDonald’s is excited to announce the return of its popular Extra Value Meals, giving more savings on some favorite menu items. Starting September 8, 2025, locals can enjoy the $5 Sausage McMuffin® with Egg Meal, which includes Hash Browns and a small coffee, or the $8 Big Mac® Meal, featuring medium World Famous Fries® and a choice of medium soft drink.

This move is part of McDonald’s ongoing commitment to offering affordable options, building on previous initiatives like McValue™ and the $5 Meal Deal. By bringing back Extra Value Meals, McDonald’s aims to make dining out easier on the wallet without compromising on taste or quality.

Joe Erlinger, President of McDonald’s USA, said: “McDonald’s USA is laser-focused on delivering value and affordability for our customers. From the $5 Meal Deal to McValue and now Extra Value Meals, we’re sending a clear message: we’re here for our customers. McDonald’s will always be a place where you can get the food you love at a price that fits your life.”

The return of Extra Value Meals ensures that people can enjoy everyday affordable pricing at local McDonald’s restaurants. With options across breakfast, lunch, and dinner, there’s an Extra Value Meal for every craving:

  • Sausage McMuffin® with Egg
  • Sausage Egg & Cheese McGriddles®
  • Egg McMuffin®
  • Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit®
  • Big Mac®
  • 10-piece Chicken McNuggets®
  • Any variety Quarter Pounder® burger (Original, Bacon, or Deluxe)
  • Any variety McCrispy® Sandwich (Original, Deluxe, or Spicy Deluxe)

These eight Extra Value Meals save customers about 15% compared to buying an entrée, fries, and a drink separately.

Danielle Marasco, McDonald’s Owner/Operator and National Franchisee Leadership Alliance (NFLA) Chair, said: “Bringing back Extra Value Meals reflects the company and franchisees’ shared commitment to offering everyday affordable prices. We’re working together to keep the menu items our customers love accessible for everyone in the communities we serve.”

A Local Connection: McDonald’s in Central Illinois

McDonald’s has been part of the Champaign-Urbana community for decades. The first Central Illinois locations opened in the 1960s and quickly became a go-to stop for families, students, and late-night diners. Generations of University of Illinois students have made McDonald’s on Green Street and Neil Street a familiar part of campus life, while area towns like Rantoul, Mahomet, and Gibson City also have long-standing locations that serve as community gathering spots.

Beyond serving burgers and fries, McDonald’s in Central Illinois has been active in local events, sports sponsorships, and charitable efforts, including support for the Ronald McDonald House in Peoria and community programs across the region. For many local families, McDonald’s has been both a tradition and a convenience for more than half a century.
