Regional Fugititive Task Force served arrest warrants today

URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) — According to the press release received this afternoon from the Urbana Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Department regarding the murder investigation of Sherman McCrane, today, members of the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force served arrest warrants in the 2400 block of Burlison Drive in Urbana. Arrested without incident were 18-year-old Dekarri Trice and a 17-year-old juvenile. Both individuals are facing charges of First-Degree Murder.

These arrests stem from the investigation into the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Sherman McCraney, which occurred in the 2000 block of Vawter Ave. in Urbana in February 2025.

Following the arrests, a search warrant was executed by Urbana Police detectives and members of the Champaign County Street Crimes Task Force.

The Urbana Police Department would like to thank the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Champaign County Street Crimes Task Force for their assistance in safe and successful execution of these warrants.

The Urbana Police Department reminds the public that all individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
