CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — The national spotlight will shine on Champaign this Saturday as the #23-ranked Illinois Fighting Illini host the #21 USC Trojans in a much-anticipated Homecoming matchup at Gies Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.

The game marks the first time Illinois has hosted ranked-vs.-ranked matchups in back-to-back seasons since 1990-91. Last year, the then-#22 Illini defeated #24 Michigan 21-7 in front of a sold-out crowd during the stadium’s rededication.

This year’s Homecoming celebration has generated similar buzz, with tickets completely sold out. Fans who still hope to attend are encouraged to visit SeatGeek, the official ticket marketplace of Illinois Athletics.

FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff pregame show will broadcast live from Grange Grove at 9 a.m., giving the Illini another moment in the national college football spotlight before the game kicks off at 11 a.m.
