CHICAGO, IL (Chambana Today) – International businessman and university instructor R. Cary Capparelli announced Monday morning that he will seek the Republican nomination for the United States Senate from Illinois in the upcoming election.

Capparelli, whose global career has spanned from motorsports diplomacy with the former Soviet Union to viticulture in Argentina, emphasized his outsider status and commitment to an “America First” agenda. “I am not a politician,” Capparelli said in a statement. “However, I am a hard-working individual with the experience and ability to function as an effective ‘America First’ lawmaker.”

The son of the late Ralph C. Capparelli, a long-serving Democrat in the Illinois House, Cary Capparelli distinguishes himself through his academic credentials, which include four university degrees and a doctorate in geography from the University of London.

He currently teaches cultural and regional geography at a major university and argues that Congress needs more voices from disciplines outside of law. “Washington has plenty of lawyers but lacks common sense economists, geographers, and those from other important disciplines that form domestic and world opinion,” he said.

Capparelli’s campaign is now underway. More information is available on his website: www.rcarycapparelli.net.
