CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The City of Champaign announced that Paula Drive will be fully closed to traffic starting Wednesday, July 2, 2025, as part of the ongoing Garden Hills Phase 3 Project. The closure will span from Garden Hills Drive to Joanne Lane and is expected to last 6 to 8 weeks, weather permitting.

During this time, residents will not be able to access their driveways by vehicle, though pedestrian access will be maintained. Street parking will be allowed outside the active construction zone, and residents are encouraged to find nearby on-street parking as needed.

Joanne Lane and Garden Hills Drive will remain open to local traffic only, with Joanne Lane accessible from the south and Garden Hills Drive accessible via Burnetta Street.

The city emphasizes that this work is weather-dependent, and additional road closures will be announced as the project progresses. Drivers are urged to proceed cautiously through construction zones, respect posted detours, and use alternate routes when possible.
