CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Parkland College will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2026, marking six decades of academic achievement, community engagement, and growth in District 505 and beyond.

The anniversary celebration begins Thursday, March 12, coinciding with the Parkland College Foundation’s annual Day of Giving. Supporters who contribute $60 or more will receive a commemorative 60th anniversary lapel pin.

Founded in 1966 and opening in 1967 with 1,338 students in leased downtown Champaign buildings, Parkland moved to its current Bradley Avenue campus in 1973. Today, the college enrolls roughly 9,600 students annually, offering more than 130 degree and certificate programs across fields including agriculture, automotive, health professions, and the arts.

“Parkland has served our community for six decades, and we look forward to the next 60 years of learning and growth,” said President Pam Lau.

The anniversary year will feature various special events highlighting the college’s history and impact, culminating with a Diamond Jubilee Gala on Thursday, November 19. For more information, visit parkland.edu/60years.
