LINCOLN, Ne. (Chambana Today) — No. 9 Illinois continued its surge through the Big Ten on Saturday night, knocking off No. 5 Nebraska 78–69 in Lincoln to claim its 11th consecutive victory and its second top-five road win in eight days.

The Illini (19–3, 10–1 Big Ten) outscored Nebraska 45–30 after halftime, turning a six-point deficit into a statement win that snapped the Huskers’ 12-game home winning streak. Illinois had already stunned No. 4 Purdue on the road last week, marking the first time in program history the Illini have won consecutive road games against top-five opponents.

Keaton Wagler led the charge with a game-high 28 points, pouring in 23 after the break while also adding five rebounds, five assists and two steals. He went 10-for-12 at the free throw line and continued a historic stretch that has seen him score 74 points in wins at Purdue and Nebraska.

Illinois controlled the glass 40–27 and leaned on its discipline defensively, committing just 10 fouls while holding Nebraska to five free-throw attempts. The Illini were efficient at the line themselves, converting 21 of 26.

Jake Davis added 13 points, while Tomislav Ivisic chipped in 12 points and eight rebounds. David Mirkovic contributed 10 points and eight boards as Illinois placed four players in double figures.

With the win, Illinois improved to 6–0 in true road games and 6–0 on the road in Big Ten play for the first time since the 2004–05 season. The Illini have now won nine straight conference games and secured their best league start in nearly two decades.
