Man sentenced to 70 years for June 2025 Champaign shooting

URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) — Kejuan Jenkins, 27, was sentenced to 70 years in prison for the shooting of two teenagers last summer in Champaign. Jenkins was convicted on charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm after a jury deliberated for just two hours.

The incident occurred on June 8, 2025, at an apartment complex on Burr Oak Court during a fight. One teen, 13, sustained life-threatening injuries, while the other, 15, was shot in the hand. Jenkins, already incarcerated on unrelated charges, was later identified as the shooter.

Jenkins received 50 years for attempted murder and 20 years for aggravated battery, both to be served consecutively.
