MAHOMET, IL (Chambana Today) – Two separate units containing four apartments each were damaged by a structure fire that broke out just before 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Lake of the Woods Apartments in Mahomet. Several families and residents have been displaced as a result of the blaze. The fire triggered an emergency response from six local agencies.
The fire impacted two central units, although that lead to the evacuation of adjacent apartments as a precaution. There are no confirmed injuries or fatalities.
The property manager confirmed the residents of the damaged units are safe. “All residents are being taken care of by family, friends, and the community,” the manager said, expressing gratitude for the swift and compassionate local response.
