URBANA, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The Justice Coalition, a program of the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD), is inviting the public to a special screening of the PBS documentary Discovered Truth: A Health Care Journey on Saturday, October 11, at the Independent Media Center in Urbana.

The event aims to shine a light on the historical and ongoing challenges Black and African American communities face in accessing equitable healthcare. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the documentary begins at 6:00 p.m.

Following the screening, attendees are encouraged to stay for a guided discussion designed to spark honest, respectful conversation around health disparities and potential pathways to change. The event will also feature live music from local artists Jarrel Young and Caleb Mutua, and a resource fair with vendors and organizations sharing information on health and wellness services.

“This event is about more than just watching a film — it’s about creating space for discovery, reflection, and ultimately healing within our community,” said Tanya Giannotti, CUPHD Public Relations representative.

Admission is free, but attendees are asked to register in advance at www.bit.ly/justiceinfocus.
