URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) — The Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) will host a public open house on Thursday, August 28, to showcase a major $3 million renovation of its training and operations facility at 1701 E. Main Street in Urbana.

The event, open from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., will include a brief ceremony and remarks from local officials at 1:00 p.m.

The renovation enhances several key areas of the facility, including a modernized lab classroom, an upgraded tactical training space with movable walls, and a fully refurbished shipping and receiving area. The parking lot has been expanded, and the outdoor courtyard has been transformed, improving the facility’s functionality and aesthetics for all users.

ILEAS, which leases the building from Champaign County, originally transformed the space from an unused nursing home into a multi-purpose training center back in 2007–2008. The latest upgrades build on that vision, expanding the facility’s ability to host first responders from across the region as well as local organizations needing meeting and classroom space.

“This renovation allows us to better meet the evolving needs of our public safety partners and community groups,” said Bryant Seraphin, ILEAS Chief of Staff. For more information, contact Bryant Seraphin at 217-328-3800 or bdseraphin@ileas.org.
