DANVILLE, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The Fischer Theatre has announced that Ashton Greer has officially been named as Executive Director, following her successful tenure as Interim Director since May 2025.

Greer, a longtime advocate for community revitalization and a passionate supporter of the arts, has been instrumental in guiding the Fischer through a period of growth, renewal, and operational transformation.

“Ashton has shown extraordinary leadership, vision, and dedication to the Fischer and the Danville Community,” said Ruey Sandusky, Board President of the Vermilion Heritage Foundation, which oversees the theater. “Her ability to bring people together and implement sustainable change has set the stage –literally and figuratively–for the theatre’s next chapter.”

Since assuming the interim role, Greer has led the theater through a successful restructuring, resulting in greater financial sustainability and expanded programming.

Also under her leadership:

  • The annual operating budget was reduced by 30% and the organization’s financial reserves have quadrupled, while increasing both the quantity and diversity of programming.
  • A matching donations campaign that raised nearly $70,000 in just two months, funding ongoing operations, restoration of the gift shop, with upcoming improvements to the theater’s concession area.
  • A new flexible staffing model was implemented, creating a more scalable operational structure to ensure longevity.

“Since it’s restoration, the Fischer Theater has been a symbol of pride and possibility for Danville,” Greer said. “It’s an honor to continue building on that legacy with our dedicated team, volunteers, and donors. None of this is possible without this incredible group of supporters. Together, we’re creating a vibrant, sustainable future for this historic landmark.”

Greer has a master’s degree in organizational leadership and in 2024, she was appointed to the Danville Planning and Zoning Commission, among other roles in the community.

Under Greer’s direction, the Fischer Theater continues to gain solid footing and forward momentum. Numerous capital improvements are currently underway, ensuring that this treasured venue remains a cornerstone of Danville’s arts and culture for generations to come.
