Election judges are essential to ensuring that citizens of the county have a fair, free, and accessible election. They are responsible for administering the election process in the polling place on Election Day and Early Voting. Judges are charged with ensuring all eligible voters are given access to the voting booth.

The qualifications to be an election judge are below, but the Champaign County Clerk & Recorder also said that flexibility and adaptability are the most important.

  • Have basic computer literacy and be comfortable with technology
  • Be a citizen of the United States and entitled to vote at the next election or a high school student serving as an election judge
  • Be of good repute and character and not subject to the registration requirement of the Sex Offender Registration Act

  • Not be a candidate for any office at the election and not be elected precinct committeemen
  • Reside in Champaign County
