Danville Police arrest man with illegal firearm in residence

DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – The Danville Police Department responded to reports of a subject with a firearm and made an arrest.

Officers responded on Friday, January 24 at around 3:00 p.m. The report was of an armed subject at the residence around the 1500 block of North Walnut Street. Upon investigation, witnesses reported a subject with a firearm and the Vermillion County State’s Attorney’s Office provided a search warrant. During the search, officers found an illegal firearm and arrested 41-year-old Jerrod Dyson of Danville. Dyson was found to be a convicted felon at the time.

He was serving Mandatory Supervised Release in the State of Illinois. He was then arrested and transported to the Public Safety Building and booked on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Obstructing/Resisting a Peace Officer.

The Danville Police Department would like to remind the public that all subjects arrested are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
