DANVILLE, Ill. (Chambana Today) — A Danville man was taken into custody Monday evening after police discovered a firearm on him during an arrest on an outstanding warrant.

At approximately 7:12 p.m. on September 15, a patrol officer with the Danville Police Department observed 25-year-old Bryce Block of Danville walking near the intersection of Williams Street and Collett Street. The officer recognized Block and was aware he had an active arrest warrant issued by a neighboring county.

Block was stopped and placed under arrest without incident.

According to police, a firearm was found on Block during a search conducted as part of the arrest procedure. He was then transported to the Vermilion County Jail, where he was booked on the warrant and two preliminary felony charges: Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon.

The Danville Police Department emphasized that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
