DANVILLE, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The Danville Fire Department will be bringing firefighters from across the region together for its “Firefighters at the Fischer” training program next week.

The event, which will be held Wednesday, January 14, is free for firefighters and area departments, and will share real-world lessons from high-risk incidents. The 2026 event will take place at the Historic Fischer Theatre, 158 N. Vermilion St., Danville, Illinois. Networking and cocktail hours will begin at 5:00 p.m., with the main program running from 7:00–9:00 p.m.

This year’s program is titled “Wichita Rescue – First-Hand Account”, and will feature Isaac Frazier of the Wichita Fire Department. Frazier has more than 22 years of service, currently serves Wichita Fire’s Truck 2, and runs Tactical Advantage Training. He previously served as a special operations captain in St. Johns County, has taught across the country, contributed to Fire Engineering, and has countless other contributions to the field. His courses place a strong emphasis on mental readiness and decision making under extreme conditions.

Attendees will learn from Frazier, walking through a demanding Wichita rescue operation which offers a detailed, on-scene perspective of how training, mindset, and teamwork come together when lives are on the line. The evening will focus on:

  • High-stakes rescue
  • Split-second decision-making
  • Choices under pressure

Last year’s inaugural event, which brought over 100 firefighters from departments around the Illinois/Indiana area together for a free evening of professional development at the Fischer Theatre, will be continued this year with the Danville Fire Department’s goal of providing high-quality training opportunities close to home.

Registration is free, and departments across the Midwest are encouraged to send firefighters, company officers, and chief officers. Attendees can register at no cost by signing up through the links posted to the Danville Fire Department’s social media pages.
