Cunningham Children’s Home seeks support through holiday season

URBANA, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Cunningham Children’s Home in Urbana is asking members of the community for contributions with the holiday season coming up.

Before Thanksgiving, the home’s art teacher, Ms. Evelyne, and her students spent time talking about what it means to be thankful. They shared stories about people who are important to them, like family members, friends, teachers and others who have made a difference in their lives. In honor of these people, the students drew candles, which stood for someone they care about or someone they wanted to remember. The project was simple but meaningful, and it showed how one small light can bring comfort and hope.

With Christmas coming, one way you can spread that same light to others is to fulfill wishes from Cunningham Children’s Home’s families. They have an Amazon Christmas Wish List which is updated regularly, but also understand the happiness that comes from simple shopping moments and hand-picking a gift with care. Thanks to our supportive community, you can grab an Angel Tree card from Christmas trees throughout Champaign-Urbana. Each card represents wishes from a Cunningham youth or family hoping for a brighter holiday.
