Champaign-Urbana, IL (Chambana Today) – Several Little League organizations in Champaign-Urbana are merging into one unified league. The new Champaign-Urbana Little League will combine Champaign East, Champaign West, Urbana, First String Little Leagues, and the Tom Jones Challenger League.

The merger is expected to streamline sponsorship efforts and create a more efficient league. The consolidation is seen as a way to encourage more sponsorships, ensuring that financial backing is spread across all teams, rather than divided among separate organizations.

The move comes as Little League baseball and softball in the region has grown in popularity, and organizers hope the merger will provide better opportunities for all players, regardless of their background or ability. By bringing together teams from across the Champaign-Urbana area, the league will be able to offer a more unified experience, with shared facilities, coaching resources, and volunteer support.

One of the key aspects of the new league is the inclusion of the Tom Jones Challenger League, which provides baseball and softball opportunities for children with physical and mental disabilities.

The unified league will also make it easier for families to navigate the registration process, as they will now only need to work with one organization rather than multiple separate leagues. Registration opens on January 1. For more information, visit their website.
