CHAMPAIGN-URBANA, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The Age-Friendly Champaign-Urbana steering committee is bringing back Active Aging Week, set for October 6–12, with a full slate of free and low-cost events promoting wellness, learning, and social connection for residents aged 50 and older.

In partnership with dozens of local organizations and businesses, the week-long celebration will feature fitness classes, educational workshops, art sessions, outdoor activities, and more, all aimed at helping older adults stay healthy and engaged.

“Active Aging Week is about celebrating all the ways older adults can thrive in our community,” said Janet Soesbe, Urbana Park District Community Program Manager. “It’s a reminder that aging well means staying curious, connected, and active.”

Highlights will include yoga, walking groups, CPR workshops, karaoke, resource fairs, and intergenerational events, hosted by organizations like the Urbana and Champaign Park Districts, UIUC, CRIS Healthy Aging, and Clark Lindsey.

The full schedule is available online at urbanaparks.org/age-friendly-programs and on the Age-Friendly Champaign-Urbana Facebook page.
