CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — The Champaign Police Department invited residents to join officers for coffee and conversation at a community-focused event earlier today. The event, part of the nationwide “Coffee with a Cop” initiative, was held from 8 to 10 a.m. at The Caffeine RX, located at 107 N. Walnut Street in Champaign.

The informal gathering gave community members a chance to meet local officers, ask questions, and discuss public safety concerns in a relaxed setting. “These events are a great way for us to connect with residents outside of emergency situations and hear directly from the people we serve,” said Patrol Sergeant David Monahan.

The department encouraged media coverage of the event and welcomed all residents to stop by for coffee and conversation. No appointments were necessary, and the event was free and open to the public.

For more information, residents can contact the Champaign Police Department at 217-351-4545 or visit champaignil.gov/police.
