CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Fire crews from the Champaign Fire Department responded to a restaurant fire in the 300 block of North Chestnut Street on Tuesday, September 2 at 12:54 p.m., swiftly bringing the blaze under control.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed moderate smoke and flames coming from the rear of the building. Multiple hose lines were deployed to tackle the fire, which was contained before it could spread inside the restaurant.

The cause of the fire was ruled accidental, resulting from cooking-related activity. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among firefighters or occupants.

Thanks to the rapid response, damage was limited, and the fire was prevented from escalating.
