Champaign County Sheriff’s Office leads effort in donating over 16 thousand meals

URBANA, Ill. (Chambana Today) — On Friday, the Eastern Illinois Foodbank shared that a combined effort from six different police forces helped to donate and repack more than 16,700 meals.

The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office defended its title as the reigning champions of the campaign, titled “Protect and Feed”, which is also helped by the Champaign Police Department, Parkland College Police Department, Rantoul Police Department, University of Illinois Police Department, and Urbana Police Department.

The Eastern Illinois Foodbank also shared that it will be closed on December 31 and January 1 for the New Year.

During the month of November, several other groups also donated their time to repack meals, including CLA, Cargill, Lakeview College of Nursing, Champaign West Rotary, RISE Center, UIUC Collegiate Farm Bureau, Heritage High School, OSF, and BluSky.
