CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The Experience Champaign-Urbana Foundation will host its next Champaign County African American Heritage Trail Community Bus Tour on Tuesday, October 28, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m., offering residents and visitors a unique opportunity to explore the region’s rich African American history.

The tour will depart from and return to the Douglass Center, located at 504 E. Grove St. in Champaign, and is open to families and individuals aged 7 and up. Participants will be guided through a curated route of murals, landmarks, and interpretive signs that celebrate African American achievements and milestones across Champaign-Urbana.

“This tour is more than a history lesson — it’s a chance to honor the legacy of those who helped shape our community and to connect residents with stories that often go untold,” said Robert White of the Experience Champaign-Urbana Foundation.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth (17 and under). Due to limited seating, early reservations are required and can be made at ccafricanamericanheritage.org/community-tours.

The Champaign County African American Heritage Trail was established to celebrate and preserve the local African American experience, highlighting individuals and events that played a critical role in the county’s social, cultural, and civic development.
