CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — A longtime board game store in Champaign County is preparing to close its doors for good.

Dr. G’s Brainworks announced it will shut down its location at Marketplace Mall in Champaign after seven years at the mall and more than a decade serving the local community.

The educational board game store was originally founded by William Gingold, known as the original “Dr. G,” who combined his background in education and psychology with a passion for board games.

Before moving to Marketplace Mall, the business operated at Lincoln Square Mall beginning in 2013. The store plans to remain open until April 30 or until it sells out of its remaining inventory.
