CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, IL (Chambana Today) — Blue pinwheels appearing across Champaign County this month are part of a community-wide effort to raise awareness during Child Abuse Prevention Month.

The displays are organized locally by Champaign County CASA as part of its annual Pinwheel Project. Each pinwheel represents a child and serves as a reminder of the importance of safety, support, and advocacy.

“Each one is more than a symbol,” the organization shared. “It represents a child who deserves to feel safe, supported, and heard.”

Residents can find the pinwheels placed throughout the county in visible public spaces, including outside courthouses, schools, and other community locations. The goal is to spark awareness and encourage conversations about protecting children and supporting families.

CASA officials say the project also highlights the role of volunteers who advocate for children in the court system, ensuring their voices are heard. More information about the initiative and how to get involved is available on the organization’s website.

They are ridiculous. They are addictively great. Comic books, of the superhero variety, are 100% American.
