DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) — Nearly a year after a tragic triple shooting on East Main Street, the Danville Police Department has announced an arrest in connection with the November 27, 2024, incident that left two people dead and a third injured.

Keshawn J. Cotton, 21, of Danville, was arrested Monday morning and charged with first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm. The charges stem from a shooting that occurred around 2:45 p.m. in the 1900 block of East Main Street, resulting in the deaths of 33-year-old Keith G. Stone and a 17-year-old juvenile. A third victim survived and has since been released from the hospital.

In addition, a warrant for first-degree murder has been issued for a 17-year-old suspect already in custody on unrelated charges. Authorities have not released the juvenile’s name due to legal restrictions.

The Illinois State Police assisted in processing the crime scene and gathering evidence. The Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office, led by Jacqueline Lacy, filed the charges against Cotton following the ongoing investigation.

“This remains an active case,” police said in a statement, urging anyone with further information to contact the Danville Police Department at (217) 431-2250 or submit an anonymous tip to Vermilion County Crime Stoppers at vccrimestoppers.org, via the P3 Tips app, or by calling (217) 446-TIPS (8477).
