CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign County Coroner has identified the man who was struck and killed by a car while riding his bicycle on I-74 in Urbana Sunday night. The victim has been confirmed as 57-year-old John K. Kwiatkowski, a resident of Urbana.

According to Coroner Laurie Brauer, Kwiatkowski was pronounced dead in the Emergency Department of Carle Hospital at 8:06 p.m., just 20 minutes after being hit by the vehicle on the highway. An autopsy has been scheduled for later this week to determine the exact cause of death. The Illinois State Police and the Champaign County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the incident.
