We got a call to our studio line today. Our caller wanted us to know about PFC Wayne “Red” McDowell, of Mattoon.

He served our country in World War II, being a part of the Amercial Division of the 164th Infantry in the Pacific.

Red is going to be 97 years old on June 23rd. Red loves his Chihuahua, Peanut, his cat, Sammy, The St. Louis Cardinals, RFD-TV, Oreos, RC Cola, Chocolate donuts, and trips to Dollar General.

He also misses his wife, who he lost last year.

Our listener asked us for help in recognizing Red, on his 97th birthday with a huge card shower.
