Police say they’ve arrested a 32-year-old man after he allegedly shot his mother in the back. He’s not the worst son ever — he did take the time to walk her to the hospital before fleeing. The victim was taken to surgery in stable condition but was able to tell police she’d been shot by her son.

A North Dakota man came up with a creative way to try to get out of trouble with officers after being pulled over for suspected DUI. The Fargo man refused a breath test and claimed he didn’t speak English. When an officer approached his window, the man smelled like alcohol and seemed intoxicated. The officer also noticed an open bottle of apple-flavored vodka in the car. When the officer asked the man his name, the suspect said, “No habla.” What the man didn’t know was the the officer spoke Spanish. So he asked the driver — in Spanish — his name. This time he didn’t answer.
