Rosie the Puppy, a three-month-old German Shepherd, gets a little overexcited sometimes. And every now and then, she causes a bit of trouble for her human companion. Like Sunday, for example, when she jumped on the gas pedal of John Costello’s Dodge Neon and drove it straight into the nearest body of water. No one was hurt, not even Rosie. Costello and a nearby Good Samaritan leaped into the pond in Canton, Massachusetts, and pulled the rambunctious puppy out of the water before the car sank below the surface.

It was around 2:15 a.m., and Dunwoody, Georgia, police officer Alvin Rodriguez was on patrol when another car smashed into him, and then drove off. Rodriguez, who was not injured, pursued the offending car and when it pulled over he asked the driver for his license. Damon Tobias Exum apparently needed Rodriguez to hold something for him so he could pull out his wallet: his beer. Sure enough, a police spokesman says, Exum was “heavily intoxicated” and totally unaware that he had collided with the officer’s patrol car.
