There are counterfeit bills being passed around, especially in the North Prospect area. The bills range from $1 to $100.
If you’re going to go through all the trouble, why not pass off some $1000 bills?
Is it urban legend that you can’t photocopy money? Supposedly there is a system inside your color copy machines that recognizes currency and, unless you adjust the size of the money when you photocopy it, busts the machine. And the service tech has to notify the FBI.

** The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office tells me they photocopy money all the time – when they seize money as evidence, they make copies of it. I still don’t think I’d give it a go.
** A friend used to sell copy machines – he says there is a chip inside and it will shut down your printer.
** A caller says she has to photocopy money at work and the only way she can is to bend the money, fold it in half, or do something so it’s not a straight-up copy.
