George Strait took home the biggest award of the night at the Academy of Country Music awards. He won his second Entertainer of the Year trophy, 25 years after winning his first. It’s kind of hard to believe it’s only his second. George has had a top 10 single every year for the 30 years.
Miranda Lambert took home 3 awards last night including 5th consecutive ACM Female Voclaist of the Year award. During her speech she mentioned all of her fellow nominees in the category except Taylor Swift. She apologized in an interview backstage saying she always acknowledges the artists she’s competing with in the category and she didn’t mean to leave her out. Miranda says she knows Taylor is working very hard just like the rest of them.
Jake Owen was on the red carpet, in his red suit, with his wife, Lacey. He looked, different, she looked gorgeous but about an hour later Jake tweeted that he had to leave the show because she was sick.
Next year, the ACMs will move AT&T stadium in Arlington, TX to celebrate their 50th anniversary. According to ACM President, Bob Romeo, the 65,000 seat stadium will allow more fans to join the party.
Many of country’s biggest stars will stay in Vegas tonight to film the ACM All-Star Salute to the Troops. Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton will perform a duet. Luke Bryan, George Strait and Rascal Flatts are also among performers. Carrie Underwood has written a song especially for the show that will air May 20th on CBS.
