Blake Has Chosen His Team’s Mentor for The Voice

In the past, Blake Shelton has chosen Miranda Lambert, Sheryl Crow, Reba and Michael Buble as mentors for his team on The Voice.  In the upcoming season, Blake will be joined by  Cher during the battle rounds.

While she has avoided reality tv, Cher said she became interested in The Voice when she performed during season 4.  “This is an amazing thing for [young singers],” she told Yahoo Music. “They didn’t have anything like this when Sonny [Bono] and I started. We played bowling alleys and roller-rinks. We didn’t get to go on any [TV shows]. This is amazing, where you have people who’ve been in the business, have been successful, and now want to help you — so you can kind of bypass a lot of the trashy stuff.”

While I find his choice odd but interesting, Blake says his dad would have been thrilled!  ”I lost my dad a year and a half ago. And my dad’s favorite artist on earth, bar none, no question, was Cher. My dad worshipped Cher,

Season 5 of The Voice premieres September 23 on NBC.
