Country star Trisha Yearwood has set herself a summer deadline to complete her first album since 2007 after putting off the project for years.

The “There Goes My Baby” hitmaker has been carving out a second career as a celebrity chef since her last new material, Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love, hit retailers almost seven years ago, but she reveals she will be hitting the studio hard to finish work on the follow-up in the coming months.

She tells People.com, “It might not be out this year, but my goal is to try and get it done by early summer. I just put it on the backburner and it needs to be focused on.”

News of Yearwood’s new album emerges as Garth Brooks’ wife prepares to kick off her first tour in five years in Florida on Wednesday night.

She says, “I’m actually calling it my ‘just because’ tour. When Garth and I started talking about touring together (this summer), I realized that as much fun as those arena shows are going to be, I really have a special place in my heart for theaters and intimate shows.

“I didn’t know when I’d get a chance to do them, and this is kind of a window. I just asked my agent to see if anyone might want to book a show. Just because I really wanted to!”

Fellow country icon Brooks recently announced plans for his first world tour in 12 years after previously retiring from the road and recording music in 2001 to focus on raising the couple’s three daughters.
