Taylor Swift has donated $50,000 to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania to fund a new music therapy initiative.
The “Love Story” singer’s generous sum will help fund a specialized programming system, which will allow young cancer patients to create and produce their own music during their treatment.
A statement from the hospital reads, “We are thrilled that Taylor Swift has chosen to support The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Cancer Center. Her gift will help lift the spirits of many CHOP patients during a difficult time.”
Lamia Barakat, director of the Psychosocial Services Program at the Cancer Center, adds, “Taylor Swift’s music is an inspiration to so many of our teen patients. We can think of no better way to use her gift than to grow our Adolescent and Young Adult initiative designed to support the emotional well-being of our teens with cancer.”
