NEW YORK (AP) — Jimmy Fallon starts as host of the “Tonight” show on the same stage Johnny Carson did before he moved the show to the West Coast.

Fallon is doing the show from New York, where he hosted “Late Night” for five years.

Fallon’s version of the “Tonight” show won’t be much different from Late Night.

He’s keeping his house band The Roots and his announcer, Steve Higgins.

He’ll keep doing bits like Slow Jam the News and Thank-you Notes.

Fallon says he wants this to be his “last job.” He says if he does it right, he should be there for a long time.

His first guests will be Will Smith and U2.

Fellow “SNL” alum Seth Meyers takes over Fallon’s old show on Feb. 24.
