Country superstar Garth Brooks comeback concerts in Ireland have sold out in less than an hour after fans camped out for days in a bid to land tickets.

The hitmaker boasts a huge fan base in the country and is set to perform in Ireland in July, for the first time since 1997.

Devotees began sleeping on the streets outside ticket-selling venues across the country earlier this week to buy passes for his three shows at Dublin’s Croke Park on Thursday morning (30Jan14).

It has now been confirmed that the 200,000 tickets available sold out within 60 minutes.

Brooks announced his Irish comeback in person at Croke Park earlier this month, insisting the dates will be a warm-up ahead of his world tour in the autumn.

He said, “Before we go back on tour in the fall (autumn) of 2014, I want to challenge myself, the band, and crew. In ’97, we were lucky enough to play Croke Park, the stadium was under construction… I was quoted then as saying ‘When this stadium is finished, I would love to come back and try to fill it again…this time to the brink.’…and we’re back to do just that.”

The shows will take place on July 25-27.

Brooks previously retired from touring and recording music in 2001 to focus on raising his three daughters with wife Trisha Yearwood.
