Florida Georgia Line sets digital sales record

Country duo Florida Georgia Line have sailed into the record books with their 2013 smash-hit “Cruise.”

The track has become the top selling country digital song of all time, according to U.S. chart compilers Nielsen SoundScan, with 6.32 million downloads tracked.

It passes Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now,” which has been downloaded 6.27 million times.

The new record kicks off 2014 much as 2013 ended for Florida Georgia Line, who broke the record for the longest-running number one in the 70-year history of the Hot Country Songs chart last year by spending 24 non-consecutive weeks atop the Billboard countdown.

The duo’s new single, “Stay”, has been on top of the Hot Country Songs chart for the past five weeks.
